Child should be three years old by September 30th, and we do accept children in pull-ups. A large part of the program is enriched play with educational materials. Includes music, literature, art, and social interaction. Informal individualized learning, and academic skills introduced. We also offer the Young Caterpillar Program - our license allows us to have a small number of children who are not quite 3 (2 years 9 months). For optimum learning we ask that you choose at least 2 days. They can be half days or full days.

Child should be four years old by September 30th, and fully toilet trained. Informal individualized instruction. Directed play with educational materials. Includes music, literature, art, and many enrichment activities including emergent literacy and mathematical thinking. For optimum learning we ask that you choose at least 3 days. They can be half days or full days.

Child should be five years old by September 30th. Emphasis is placed on dealing with the “whole child.” Cognitive, social-emotional, gross and fine motor, and speech and language are all part of the young child’s development. We endeavor to achieve this by teaching basic readiness, phonics, math concepts, writing, beginning reading, music, literature, and speech.
Parents can choose either a 4 day (Mon-Thur) or all 5 days.

Chestnut offers a before and after school program on a full-time or part-time basis. Currently we are offering it to students of Chestnut, to those who live on bus route #3, and a small number of bus seats have been given to us from the Superintendent of Schools. Parents are always welcome to have their child brought to us via private transport.
A State of NH Registration Form dated within 1 year and Health Form with Immunizations dated within 2 years is required of NBCS students to participate in this program.
Children bring their own snacks.
In case of inclement weather, we follow the New Boston public school system. If they are cancelled we cancel as well. If they are delayed for two hours we are delayed for ONE hour for both Before Care and for School.

Details
Admission
All children may apply for a given age class provided they reach that age by September 30th unless specific arrangements have been made with the director. We are licensed for children 2 years 9 months and on a limited basis will conditionally accept this aged child in the Caterpillar Program with the mutual understanding that they will repeat the Caterpillar Program unless other arrangements have been made.
When a parent fills out a registration card and pays the Registration, Insurance Fee, and Supply Fee, his/her child is formally admitted. If the class is filled, the parents will be notified and either the fees will be returned promptly or the child will be placed on a waiting list.
Screening children for special needs is an important part of our program because we recognize the great advantage of early intervention. Children of varying abilities and disabilities are welcomed into all classes.
Registration
Between January 1 and January 15 registration for the next school year begins for families currently in the school and alumni families. On January 16 registration opens to new families. New families may wish to visit the school anytime prior to January 16th and upon filling out the registration paperwork and paying the fees are automatically enrolled on the 16th. Confirmation letters are sent out immediately after the 16th and as registrations are received.
Home/Intake Visits
For all new students who register by June 15th the director will arrange to make a home visit before the end of June. The time is spent getting to know each other, as well as an opportunity to ask any questions about the school. During that time a biographical/intake form is filled out together regarding any allergies, special interests, personality, etc. The visits can be done at your home, at the school, or over the phone.
